Our mission is to make it easy to discover & buy from small-batch artisanal producers.
Participate in a transparent food system, by knowing who makes your food and where it comes from.
Small-batch producers infuse their product with a level of attention and passion that is impossible for large-scale factories to reproduce. When you buy from any of our local artisans, you are getting large-scale quality, care and love.
Fall in love with flavors you've never tasted before! Our collection boasts such eclectic offerings like Ostrich Jerky, Goat Milk Caramel, Lovage Soda Syrup and much more.
Bonus: our producers understand that there is no substitute for real ingredients, so you will never find a synthetic alternative or an unpronounceable chemical in anything you buy from us.
You curate your "crate" - or shopping cart - and we'll take care of the rest! If you live in the 48 contiguous United States or in D.C., we will ship your curated batch of foods right to your door. No schlepping to the grocery store; No driving out of your way; No hassles at all... How convenient!
Our producers understand that there is no substitute for real ingredients, so you will never find a synthetic alternative or an unpronounceable chemical in anything you buy from us.
You are what you eat – and what you eat is the sum of every ingredient.
We want to ensure that when you shop with Farm to People, you are getting only high-quality products made by high-quality people. You shouldn't have to question your food before you buy it because we've already done that for you. That's why we have 4 Baseline Standards that all producers and their products must adhere to in order to be considered.
The benefits of using Genetically Modified Organisms are unconfirmed and up for debate. But there are definite concerns that using GM technology is tampering too deeply with Nature and could be causing long-term damage to our health. Additionally, there are concerns about the objectivity of regulators and the rigor of the regulatory process, about contamination of the non-GM food supply, about effects of GMOs on the environment and about the consolidation of control of the food supply in companies that make and sell GMOs, particularly in the developing world.
It's for these reasons that we join with many other food sellers in rejecting the use of GMOs. Our producers acknowledge the beneficial certitude that 100% real and untampered ingredients provide, and they will never willingly incorporate GMOs in any stage of their production process.
Large-scale food operations tend to prioritize cheap production and big profits, typically at the expense of healthfulness and quality.
Our producers are all small-batch, which guarantees that you get a product made with genuine passion and attention to detail. There are no exceptions made when it comes to ingredients, quality or taste which results in a product that is incomparably better than anything a machine could produce.
No unpronounceable chemicals here. Our bodies are not meant to ingest artificial flavors & colors because doing so may have adverse effects on our health.
Our producers only use real ingredients because that is what makes sense. There are no substitutes for nature!
Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations (CAFOs) treat animals like a commodity, pumping them full of GMO feed and antibiotics and confining them in their own feces in overcrowded pens. This ends up contributing more to CO2 emissions/greenhouse gases than all the cars in the US combined. In addition, the large amounts of animal waste from CAFOs also present a risk to water quality and aquatic eco-systems.
All of the meat and dairy you see on our site comes from animals that were treated with respect and love, allowed to live free, natural lives and fed natural, non-GMO feed, whenever possible. Happier, healthier animals grazing in pastures makes for happier, healthier people.
From working at the Union Square farmers market every Saturday to cooking crazy new meals for his friends, Michael has always been inspired by great meals and the power of food to bring people together. However, with Genetically Modified food ending up in everything we eat these days and big corporations taking control of the food industry, Michael believes that it is more important than ever for people to know what's in their food and to be informed about the people who are making it. He passionately hopes Farm To People can be a platform to energize the conversation as well as a transparent business for conscious eaters who want to support the sustainable, small-batch producers in this country!
I spent my high school years surrounded by farmland in Dutchess County, New York, where I was able to witness firsthand how under-appreciated local agriculture was in our country’s current food system. Since then, I’ve always tried to support local foods and farmers in my daily life, but found it exceedingly difficult to do so. So when I heard about Farm to People and their mission to create an easy way to bridge the gap between local producers and the general population, I jumped at the opportunity to provide my web design and development services to help them realize their goal.
