Joe Threat has spent his entire life mastering the art of barbecue. Born and raised in the barbecue mecca of Kansas City, Joe earned his chops helping his stepfather, a pro pitmaster who perfected his craft over 20 years at the famous Gates Bar-B-Q, slow-smoke mountains of meat in a homemade brick pit for holidays and special occasions. After a career in the Marine Corps, Joe and his family put down roots in New Orleans, surviving Hurricane Katrina to carry on the family tradition in the Crescent City.
