Combine garlic scapes, basil, nuts, and sea salt in food processor or blender. Pulse a couple times to achieve rough mixture. While processing, slowly pour in ½ cup olive oil. Stop processing and scrape down sides of bowl with rubber spatula. Texture of final pesto is personal. If sauce seems too thick for your preference, add 2 tablespoons olive oil at a time and check again for ideal consistency.Once smooth paste has been achieved, add ½ - 1 cup Parmesan cheese and process until completely mixed in. Taste for seasonings.
Add more cheese for a thicker, more savory paste. Or leave as is if you're happy with flavor and consistency.
