Chip Steak Sandwich

20 Mins

Prep time: 20 min.

Serves 2

Ingredients:
  • 1 lb. Chip Steak
  • 1 loaf Sesame Bread
  • 3-4 slices Cheese (Cheddar, Swiss or the Arzua-Ulloa we used would work great, as long it melts nicely!)
  • 1 Sweet Onion, peeled, quartered and sliced
  • ¼ Tbsp. Butter

Preheat oven to 400℉

Melt butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Once the butter is slightly bubbling, add chip steaks. Fry steaks quickly, about one minute on each side. Remove from heat, cover and allow to rest for about 5 minutes.

Slice loaf once through the middle to create two half moon shapes, then slice along the edge to make two buns. Add steak to bottom of each bun, folding it onto the bread instead of laying it flat so that the cheese has crevices to melt into. Add a handful of caramelized onions to the meat, then add the slices of the cheese. Place both sides of bread on a baking sheet in the oven for about 1 minute, just until the bread is warm and the cheese melted. Serve with your choice of extra toppings and sides (we’re really into pickled green tomatoes and hot sauce, but some crispy home fries would be nice too).
