Over 30 years ago, Julio Lopez watched on as his grandmother crafted her signature hot sauce. Born in a small Mexican village, Formosa Hot Sauces come from a long process of recipe perfecting, and since 1984, they have crafted smooth, authentic, Mexican-inspired sauces that include heat with an abundance of bright flavors. Now that they’re in San Jose, California, the only thing that’s imported is the recipe. The Lopez family sources all of their fresh ingredients locally—which isn’t hard, thanks to the Golden State’s commitment to small farms and the slow food movement.
